Daryl's Jungfrau Marathon

Huge congratulations to Daryl Mullen of Newburgh Nomads, who along with daughter Luci, completed the tough Jungfrau Marathon on 07 September 2024. It's a marathon with a difference - 2,000 meters of climbing included! On a stunning Alpine day, Daryl and Luci ran from Interlaken to Eigergletscher in view of the Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch. An amazing setting and great conditions for such a challenge. Well done Daryl and Luci!

Chris takes on the Charnley Way

Chris Usher completed the Charnley Way on 30 August 2024. On what was a perfect Lakeland day (blue skies, little wind, not too warm), Chris ran and walked a route over 40 miles with 13,000 ft of ascent to link all points of the Charnley Way between the youth hostels of High Close (Langdale), Eskdale and Longthwaite (Borrowdale).  Chris becomes the third Newburgh Nomad to complete the round solo after Dave Ralphs and John Thompson.

Pete's Tea Round

Peter McNamee completed the Abraham's Tea Round on Saturday 24 August. Clocking up 30 miles and 10,000 ft ascent, the route takes in all tops seen from the window of the cafe in the attic of George Fisher's outdoor shop in Keswick.

Is this the first solo completion by a Newburgh Nomad? Well done Pete!

Lakeland 50/100 success!

Newburgh Nomads Kathy Sutton, David Ralphs and Jamie Munro completed the gruelling Lakeland 100, and not for the first time.  Dave earned his "slate" for 5 completions.

Michael Smith ran in the Lakeland 50, completing the course in an impressive time of 10hrs 57mins.

Jordan competes at the Snowdon 24

Congratulations to Jordan Van Flute for completing 7 laps at the Snowdon 24!
70 miles and 21,000ft of climbing in less than 24 hours on the rough tracks up Snowdon is no mean feat.

Review of the year 2023

A look back at the year that was 2023.With 2022's list of achievements being quite extensive, it was almost inevitable that plans would be a little muted for 2023.  It's been a challenging year in many respects with some members recovering from illness or injury or focussing on the needs of their families - partners, children and grandchildren.
The beginning of the year witnessed the usual round of events and races in the name of "getting fit" throughout winter.  Old favourites such as The Hebden, Wadsworth Trog, Anglezarke Amble and Parbold Hill races all kicked off the year…

Review of the year 2022

A look back at some notable achievements from 2022.
For every one of these achievements there are many more personal triumphs at every level: personal bests, recovering from injury, surviving the midge at Cragg Vale, or managing to get out and run when the rest of life competes for time.  Hats off to you all!
The Big OnesIn the Newburgh Nomads tradition of "going big", these achievements are a celebration of what can be done when all the training and preparation comes together.
