Welcome to Newburgh Nomads Running Club

Newburgh Nomads Running Club are based in West Lancashire, England. A no-nonsense club for road, trail, cross-country and fell runners. We organise the Harrock Hill race series. Join us for a run.

History

Established in 1984

Newburgh Nomads were established as a running club by a couple of work colleagues and a friend. The three amigos wanted a regular time and place to run and keep fit. One of the founder members, Andy Brookfield, still runs regularly with the club to this day.

Keeping fit and ties with Newburgh Sports Club

Some members of the Newburgh Sports Club football team used running to improve their match fitness. Some of the footballers stayed with Newburgh Nomads, participating in running events around the region.

Road racers

Many club members have trained and raced on tarmac. The traditional "5 miler", 10k, half-marathon and marathon distances have all had participants from Newburgh over the years, with some pretty fast serious competitors performing well in races across the last four decades.

Into the fells and ultra running

Along with road races and cross-country events, Newburgh Nomads have a strong tradition of felling running and racing. Many past and present members have competed in iconic challenges such as the Lakeland 50 or 100, the Bob Graham Round, the Joss Naylor Challenge, or the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.
