Running Club
The Nomads are a long established small running club, based in West Lancashire, who meet regularly to run and race on the roads, trails and fells. Most current members have a preference for hilly trails and fells, with a similar ethos to the
FRA - enjoyment of running with like-minded people where you're free to do your own thing.
Members are mainly from the surrounding towns and villages of Mawdesley, Ormskirk, Parbold and Skelmersdale as well as Newburgh.
Year round, our members enjoy the challenge of weekend races and events. Everything from 5km Parkrun to 30-50 mile events in the Lakeland fells are regular fixtures in the Newburgh Nomads calendar.
We enjoy our running and and we give a little back to the sport and local running community. The
Ashurst Beacon race in January and the
Harrock Hill series of summer races are run by Newburgh Nomads (with a little help from our families and friends).

Where we meet
We meet at
Newburgh Sports and Social Club every
Tuesday evening at 7:00pm, unless we're at an evening fell race in summer. Local runs always start from the club.
Through membership of the club we have use of two separate changing rooms with showers.
During the summer months, March to September, we meet up on Tuesday evening each week to run on the local trails either side of the Leeds-Liverpool canal, North over High Moor and Harrock Hill and South around Ashurst Beacon and Beacon Park. Mid-week fell races at many great venues in the West-Pennines attract many of our members during the summer too.
In winter months our evening training runs are mostly along roads and lanes of the surrounding area with our range stretching from Westhead and Skelmersdale up to Rufford and Mawdesley, or maybe a run out to Standish.
Tuesday night runs are in two groups: approximately 13 km at 6.2min/km (8 mile at 10min/mile), and 16km at 5.5min/km (10 mile at 9min/mile); with stops to regroup.
